Magistrate Gary A. Benjamin
Gary A. Benjamin is the Magistrate assigned to hear civil and small claims cases. A resident of Cleveland Heights for over ten years, he and his wife, Melody Hart, are active members of the community.
Magistrate Benjamin earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Wesleyan University and his Juris Doctor from Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan. He practiced law in Detroit doing civil cases and has served as an Advocacy Director at a legal aid doing and defending against civil claims. He also served as a mediator in the Wayne County Circuit Court (Michigan) for over a decade.
Magistrate Benjamin is active in several local not-for-profit organizations and served as Chair of the Economic Development Advisory Committee for the City Council of Cleveland Heights. He was appointed Magistrate in March, 2018.
Magistrate Kimberly J. Bolton
Kimberly J. Bolton joined the Cleveland Heights Municipal Court as a magistrate in April of 2018. A native of Cleveland's east side, Magistrate Bolton holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Hiram College and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Ohio Northern University Pettit College of Law. Magistrate Bolton is admitted to practice law in the State of Ohio and the Northern District of Ohio.
Prior to taking the bench, Magistrate Bolton opened her own criminal and civil law practice. Magistrate Bolton came to the Cleveland Height Municipal Court from the City of Cleveland Heights where she was an Assistant Law Director.
Magistrate Rod R. Mastandrea
Rod earned his Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 2004 and his law degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 2008. During and after law school, Rod was an intern at the Office of the Public Defender in Cuyahoga County. After being admitted to practice law in Ohio, Rod helped a small firm open a criminal defense practice in Cleveland. In 2011 he began his own successful practice, Mastandrea Law, and has helped thousands of clients with their legal issues in the areas of criminal defense, civil litigation, and family law.
Rod grew up in Cleveland Heights and is a proud graduate of Heights High, Class of 1998. Rod currently lives in the area with his fiancé Julia and his dog Sasha.
